Mobile Banking advances to the position of a "standard application"...
... as a recent study by Rajnish Tiwari and Stephan Buse of Research Project "The Mobile Prospects" in Germany found out. The research project is carried out at Institute of Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) of Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), in Hamburg, Germany.
The authors found that first industry-wide technical/business standards are emerging. For instance offers of Mobile Banking and Mobile Financial Services (MFS) in Germany are in the meantime dominated by browser-based applications. Moreover the offers are pre-dominantly free of additional charges and customers of online banking receive automatic accessing thereby eradicating the need for an additional prior-registration for utilizing MFS.
The authors foresee Mobile Banking to spread further owing to various socio-demographic changes in the society.
Rajnish Tiwari and Stephan Buse are authors of "The Mobile Commerce Prospects: A Strategic Analysis of Opportunities in the Banking Sector", which has been published by Hamburg University Press, ISBN: 978-3-937816-31-9. The book may also be downloaded as PDF. The study was awarded the "Market and Customer Orientation Prize 2006" by Germany's Vodafone Foundation for Research in Mobile Communication ("Vodafone Stiftung für Forschung in der Mobilkommunikation").
